Kendoll Gets Gritty With Pitch-Bending Monster “In Effect”
L.A.-based Kendoll is an ascending DJ/producer with a knack for tough house garnished with gnarly influences from UK bass and garage. Coming fresh out of the gate with releases on stables like Dim Mak and Psycho Disco!, she’s got a new heavy-duty EP on the horizon, due to drop on AC Slater’s mighty Night Bass imprint. Playhouse is packed with bass house cuts served with an extra side of wonk, and we’re previewing the second featured bit as our Track of the Day.
“In Effect” is a great example of the polished and hard-hitting sounds Kendoll has consistently thrown down. Kicking off with a pumping BPM and a deep bassline lashed with brooding energy, it’s not long before Kendoll kicks things into high gear with a gritty, bass-driven hook she wields like a baseball bat. Prepare to get smacked.
“This track is one of my favorites off my new EP, as it floats new production techniques that I haven’t really messed around with before, particularly on the pitch bend,” Kendoll says. “It’s created a unique style of house music that I’m not used to making, as it’s a little darker and grittier than what I usually produce.”
Available February 12 via Night Bass.
