Arno Cost
Origin: None
French DJ and producer Arno Cost has had something of an incredible journey since bursting onto the scene in 2006. An advocate of homegrown influences and inspiration, Cost developed his own musical identity through a combination of electronica, disco, pop and house. His first big release ‘Magenta’ the same year turned all the right heads, and he followed it up with the pulsating single ‘Apocalypse’ on Cr2, a collaboration with renowned producer Norman Doray. This was reworked in 2014 and released through Spinnin Records.
With his work quickly gaining praise from the likes of Avicii, Axwell, Tiesto and Pete Tong, his touring schedule stepped up to match his time in the studio. 2011 saw David Guetta extend an invitation for Arno to play his annual “Fuck Me I’m Famous” party, and Swedish House Mafia welcomed him on their weekly Pacha Ibiza show.
After releasing ‘Lifetime’ (Spinnin) and ‘Head Up’ (Size) in 2012, his status as one of the finest dance music talents to rise up from the iconic Parisian culture was confirmed. He rounded off the year with ‘Nightventure’, a track made with Greg Cerrone that also landed on Steve Angello’s Size. Regularly flying between Europe, Asia, USA and South America, he took on a Las Vegas residency and released the heavily supported ‘Strong’ released on Size Records, again with fellow Frenchman Norman Doray.
Now entering 2015, it is clear that Arno Cost will continue to move from strength to strength. Utilising his natural ability as a tastemaker, he is busy developing a brand new radio show titled ‘When In Paris.’ With his own groove-ridden style constantly pushing him to the forefront of the scene and continuing to inspire others, the concept behind this idea is to present authentic French sounds to a global audience. ‘When In Paris’ will later expand as a brand into new avenues including events and a clothing line.
Arno has been working closely with Protocol Management since the beginning of 2014, and a highlight of the year saw Cost featured as a remixer of Nicky Romero and Dutch rock star Anouk’s powerful ‘Feet On The Ground’, delivering a distinctive and emotive rework. Releases in 2015 are already taking shape too, with January 19th seeing ‘Paradisco’ land on Sosumi Records; a revival of a disco-infused track with Doray and Ben Macklin designed to pack a punch on any dancefloor. In February the highly anticipated club track At Night was released through the innovative music platform Wavo.me, and premiered by Billboard.
Alongside artists such as Kryder and Ansolo, Arno Cost is a leading light in groove-orientated house, and is also a highly respected aficionado in French dance music. Effortlessly combing jetting off around the world for shows and tours with producing and now fronting his own radio show, 2015 is set to be one of his finest years yet.
