Emanuel Satie’s Top 5 Tracks of 2015
As we get ready to knock on the door of 2016, we asked some of our favorite DJs to give us their top five tracks of the year. Dive into Emanuel Satie’s essential selections below.
A tastemaker in his own right, Germany-based house and deep house stalwart Emanuel Satie made major waves this year via his standout Your Body EP, out now via Defected Records offshoot DFTD. His take on jackin’ house mixes with tech house vibes for a groove born for the dancefloor and made with the dance music fanatic in mind.
He’s earned the support from all the major trendsetters in the game, like Pete Tong and DJ T, whose Get Physical Music imprint recently released a two-part collection of Satie’s best remixes. With a nod from the greats and a growing list of original productions and remixes, Emanuel Satie is well on his way to becoming a house legend via his own standards.
Emanuel Satie recaps the year in house and deep house with his top five tracks of 2015.
DJ Dozia “Pop Culture” (Kink Remix)
For me, personally, this is the remix of the year – Kink at his best. The track has a really good drive, forward-moving energy, but is still very soulful. Timeless dance music; this track will probably work forever.
Paul Woolford “MDMA”
Very heavy drums, a catchy vocal, and then this piano line. Dropped at the right moment, this track will educe euphoria on every dancefloor. It was originally thought of as the B-side of the release, but then the B-side quickly became the hit. Rightfully so, the best track made this year in my opinion.
Reset Robot “She”
Great track to close a set with; it just meanders through its strings and chords and creates an amazing atmosphere. Kind of mellow, but still uplifting and energetic. Masterpiece.
Robert Dietz & Tuccillo “Juice”
This track is all about its bassline. Pair some crazy, loopy sounds with it and you got a dancefloor weapon. This track just universally works in every set at almost any point. Genius.
Aphrohead “Let’s Prance” (Radio Slave & Thomas Gandey Remix)
I guess this is my most-played tune this year. Driving and energetic groove that builds and builds and builds until you reach the peak with a playful piano line. Add on top the coolest vocal from this year and you got an evergreen for the years to come. Let’s prance!
