John Dahlbäck’s Top 5 Tracks of 2015
As we get ready to knock on the door of 2016, we asked some of our favorite DJs to give us their top five tracks of the year. Dive into John Dahlbäck’s essential selections below.
For the past year, Swedish house producer John Dahlbäck has been hard at work on his forthcoming album, Saga, slated for release in late January 2016 via Armada. We can already tell it’s one of his biggest endeavors to date. “This album is so diverse and musical, and that is really important these days,” Dahlbäck posted on his Instagram profile. “It can succeed and it can fail, but it doesn’t matter. With this album, I did my best, and what’s more important, I did it all with my love for music.”
Based on the album tracks out in the public world now, Saga is sure to ignite dancefloor and festival mania the world over. The album sees Dahlbäck tackling a number of genres and sounds, with downtempo vibes, big room electro house via “Raven,” vocal pop on “Count to Ten,” and beautifully melodic progressive house on “Where You Are.” As a true artist album, Saga reflects Dahlbäck’s evolved sound, a result of his prolific 15-year career.
Elsewhere, Dahlbäck has helped push new talent forward via his Mutants Records, which puts the spotlight on budding artists, including Upjeet, DBN, Backwall, and others, as well as his own originals and collaborations.
As he looks forward to 2016 with the upcoming release of Saga, Dahlbäck closes out the year with his top five tracks of 2015.
John Dahlbäck ft. Alexx Mack “Count to Ten”
This is my new single, and I’m just so very happy with it. It’s a fun track and Alexx Mack delivered such good vocals on this one. People always get really happy when I play this.
Pierce Fulton ft. JHart “Landmines”
This is one of those songs I wish I would have done. I always get goosebumps when I play this out. Such a beautiful song and a greatly written vocal.
Steve Angello ft. the Presets “Remember”
I love the chord progression on this one, and such a good vocal, too! I really love what I’ve heard from Steve’s album. The video is very cool, too.
Armin van Buuren ft. Cimo Fränkel “Strong Ones” (Dave Winnel Remix)
The original is awesome, but Dave’s remix fits my sets better. Love the groove on this one! Dave has been putting out some really solid stuff lately, and I’m always eager to hear what he’s got.
David Vrong “Erase Me”
Just love the old-school vibes on this track! The beats sound great, and I love the simple, but effective vocal cuts. Unfortunately, it’s a bit too deep for my sets, but if I were a tech house or deep house DJ, I could easily play this three times per show.
