Thee Mike B and BOT Cook Up Acid-Coated Club Treat “Knee On”
Put most labels in front of a fresh crop of boundary-pushing producers, and all they’ll see are dollar signs. Yet that isn’t the case with Main Course, the perceptive party imprint founded by Astronomar, Neoteric and BOT, who have been looking out for music heads since opening up shop in 2012. Rather than being worried about fattening their own pockets, the label is built on a business model where followers are able to swoop up every release free of charge within seven days of going to distro.
It’s allowed the MC crew to come up big in its three years of operation, a milestone we get to share with today’s premiere. On top of being tasked to jumble together the label’s dopest jams in the past year—plated together in the form of YEAR THREE: The Compilation with accompanying mega-mix—Thee Mike B links up with BOT to construct a delectable club treat.
Here’s what Mike B had to say about the heater:
Bot and I have been bros for a long time now. But I was always a huge fan of his production, long before we even met. When he suggested we make some tunes, I was stoked, to say the least. After a few sessions, we had “Knee On,” which, though relatively simple, has every element that I like in a track: bumping drums, acid lines, and late-nite, funky hip-hop vibes, all wrapped up into a prime-time club killer! I’m glad it found its way into the Main Course catalog, but it’s bittersweet to release my secret weapon into the world!
Available May 20 via Main Course.
