Marvin & Guy Fix Up AFFKT’s “Fixate” With Texture Mix

You never forget your first, which is why AFFKT has stayed on the best of terms with Coyu’s Suara imprint after they snatched up his debut back in 2010. The Spanish sensation will further strengthen their bond in a couple of weeks when he sends off a care package containing three fresh originals, each exemplifying his personal development in the dance space.

Two remixes also appear on the release, with Marvin & Guy paying close attention to the lead cut, “Fixate.” Taking the fine-spun vocal tune and adding their own gossamer around Haptic’s plush singing, the Italian duo thread sprawling arpeggs, velvety chords and cobbled basslines into a dreamy take meant for moments of pure release.

“Fixate” is a track that took me a long time to compose and then wrap it up in the recording studio. Actually, I must confess it is, technically speaking, one of the most complex tracks I ever did. A deep and dark song, but at the same time really energetic and emotive, its injection of nostalgia is essential in this new production. Hopefully, you guys can feel it, but I definitely think it contains a lot of my taste in music, such as classic drum & bass; this is one of the main reasons I’ve decided to work with another fanatic of that electronic genre—Mark Forester, aka Haptic, who drives the track to an even a higher point of thrill. On top of that, the Marvin & Guy version is exciting and heart-warming. Love it all. I am convinced that there was no better way to be back releasing on a highly respected label as Suara.
