Ari El’s Simmering “Smooth Operator” Is a Techno Slow-Burner

Techno veteran Ari El has charted his own creative path to master status. Over his longstanding career, New Yorker Ariel Chulpayev has released tracks on notable underground labels like Afro Acid, District Audio and Clandestine.

On his latest EP, Poetic Justice, for Victor Calderone’s signature imprint Waveform, the Queens native delivers three tracks that are guaranteed to move the crowd from peak-time and on into the early morning hours.

Our selection, “Smooth Operator,” is a techno slow-burner that builds with dark keys and deep bass riding along the emotive groove. Lock on below—and be sure to catch him in the mix on January 29 at Atlanta’s Speakeasy and February 2 for the Waveforms Recordings release party at New York’s Cielo.
