Crossover acts are one thing, but what Bonnie X Clyde are pulling off with their vocal bass movement is a completely different story. They’ve been making a name for themselves as an always-on-the-move duo that is zeroing in the dichotomy of lush songwriting and lit beat-making. With Bonnie handling business on the mic, while also crafting the festival-sweeping sound alongside Clyde, these two partners in crime are poised for nothing but full-blown greatness.

As the Ride or Dies (the term they lovingly use to refer to their fanbase) hang on to the edge of their seats for the release of the outfit’s debut EP, Wanted, BXC breaks them off the lead single. “Bass Jam” is wild and carefree, personifying the very message they hope to transmit to the world. It lands on Insomniac Records today, so we chased down Bonnie X Clyde to get the full scope of the duo’s future classic.

For those who don’t know what’s good, please tell us what Bonnie X Clyde is all about?
Having way too much fun, being free to express yourself.

Your new single “Bass Jam” has been getting such a powerful response so far. What has been the most fulfilling comment or feedback you’ve received thus far?
Someone said if they heard it on the radio, they wouldn’t change the station.

It was written about the time in one’s life when the future is uncertain, a sentiment most people could easily relate to. Do you remember the moment when you realized your calling?
Bonnie:
Growing up, singing was the one thing that helped me let go, relax, and be myself. I fell in love with it, and as soon as I started DJing and producing, my life became fully dedicated to music. It became habitual to create something every day. It’s not really one moment for me, but when I started writing songs that I could really feel, based off real experiences, I knew this was the right path for me. These songs make me feel something special, and I just hope others feel something from them, too.
Clyde: It was never really a moment—more just a feeling in relation to music throughout my life. Since I started DJing at 15, I couldn’t picture myself doing anything else. This was before I knew about EDM and the whole festival scene. I was just in love with curating the vibe, throwing dope parties, and making tunes.

The hook of the song is “where do we go from here?” How would you answer that same question at this very moment?
We would say, “wherever you want.” This song is all about being free to do whatever it is you want and letting go. Being able to ask yourself that question and choose the answer for yourself is a special thing.

This single has been pulled from your debut EP, Wanted, which is due out soon on Insomniac Records. What can you tell us about any of the other offerings or the package as a whole?
B:
The Wanted EP as a whole tells a story, and each song is a part of it. It’s about multiple feelings as you go through the motions of a relationship. Together, these songs represent our want and need to love and to be loved in return. It’s about living in the moment and understanding you are in control of your future.
C: The EP has a balance between the rave and the radio, because we feel it has a little something for everyone. If you wanna jam in your car with the windows down, there’s something for you—or if you wanna jam in a mosh pit, let’s get it.
