Under his drum & bass alias the Clamps, Julien Carbou transforms into a veritable beast on the dancefloor. Having teamed up with Impact Music for his latest release, the French producer applies his signature heavyweight sound to hit that itch in all the right places. The dark and murky “MK Ultra” ushers in a twitchy, tech-fueled atmosphere sure to have the squad heaving at the rails.

When asked about the inspiration behind the propaganda-induced paranoia within the tune, Julien tells us, “After seeing a TV news archive on France 2 regarding the mass incident of poisoning at Pont-Saint-Esprit, a small town in France, I watched a few other documentaries about the MKUltra project, also believed to be a CIA mind-control program.”

Charting his way through a topic that has become part legend, myth, hoax, and actual fact, his resulting interest with the program led to deeper wanderings on the web, into a general fascination with mind control and propaganda.

“I still think that propaganda is everywhere now, and I see that as a kind of mind control over the masses. It gave me some inspiration to write ‘MK Ultra,’ starting with psychotic sounds, evolving into a kind of schizophrenic resonance, leading into a big drop, before showing the brain explosion due to the surfeit of information (true or false).”

No matter which side of the information divide you live on, this one is sure to get those synapses sizzling. So check it, and keep your eyes peeled for this one.
