Alex Kennon

Genre: House · Tech House

Origin: Italy

Already making serious waves with productions on globally renowned labels like Crosstown Rebels, Cajual and Rebellion, Alex Kennon has always been surrounded by great music. As guitar player Alex was inspired by powerful songs from Genesis and Led Zeppelin alike. The emotional and powerful music soon led his journey towards house and techno: partly thanks to his father’s funk.

He has been picked up as a producer to watch by Mixmag. Not long after he won Best Breakthrough artist of 2018 at the DJ Awards in Ibiza. It was an important acknowledgement from the DJ community as Alex received his award in a room alongside superstar winners Jamie Jones, Adam Beyer and Sven Vath and Carl Cox.

Alex is a lover of New York and Detroit music, with a big liking towards acid sounds. As for Alex’s sound, his “Lay Your Weapons Down” remix on Crosstown Rebels really points the way with everything he has done since. Alex liking for vocals and his sweet spot between house and techno marks his signature imprint. Not too hard, always groovy.

Pete Tong was the first to comment how Alex’s releases have gotten stronger and stronger over time so first up came a very special club collaboration with Pete Tong called ‘Apache’, which dropped on Crosstown Rebels and was played on Radio 1 for six weeks straight.
Hot on its heels came another incredible electronic single called ‘Blinding Lights’ signed to Joris Voorn’s own Spectrum, including a remix from Joris himself; the record was supported by all the right people at Radio One (including Pete and Danny Howard) and continued Alex’s sharp upward momentum: both records did serious damage at Beatport, even crossing into the main Beatport chart thanks to the enormous support in all the right places. (Indeed, the streaming numbers on both ‘Apache’ and ‘Blinding Lights’ are off the charts and ‘Apache’ looks set to appear in the soundtrack to an HBO show shortly.)

With new singles incoming on Black Book called ‘Voices’ and “Bass into the Future” featuring the legend Kevin Saunderson, Alex set a solid step towards his ongoing journey. With charm, charisma and talent by the bucket load and a home studio capable of helping him create some of the biggest anthems of the era, 2024 is coming in hot!
