Kiki Goes Astroplaning on Remix of Maximalism’s “Lost”
Kiki’s rework of Maximalism’s “Lost” shapeshifts the original’s gloomy and glitchy progressive house vibe into a serpentine micro-acid machine slicing and dicing through dark warehouse echoes with sharp, oscillating sonics. The beat gets tighter and snappier, percolating under siren synthlines that stretch into infinity, a gauzy doppler-like vocal snippet that wafts in and out, and a propulsive, undulating bassline that gets smattered with rattles and snares. Maximalism’s alias is well suited to his “more is more” ‘80s synthpop inspiration, while Kiki’s remix finds its minimalist soft spot and turns it up to 11.
Maximalism’s Say My Name EP is out now on Dear Deer Records, featuring an additional remix of “Lost” by Rafael Cerato.
Available November 6 via Dear Deer.
