Q of the Day: What Purpose Does Music Serve in Your Life?
Upcoming Event
We got some sound advice, wit and wisdom from some of the world’s top DJs. Today’s question:
What Purpose Does Music Serve in Your Life?
Dash Berlin
It’s my mental fuel.
Martin Garrix
Music is my life, my passion and ambition.
Tritonal
Music is so many things to us and serves so many different emotions. Most of you know Tritonal as more the happy, emotional and uplifting tip. We choose to produce music that represents how we try to live our lives, and being happy and at peace on the inside is a big part of how we try to live. What a lot of people may not know is that we rarely ever listen to dance music in our personal lives. It’s mostly all chill-out, downtempo, rock or some other alternative music. We get so much of our melodic influence on the records we produce from other styles of music, and we find inspiration everywhere.
Kissy Sell Out
I think the most beautiful thing about music is the personal meaning that you can take from it. Be it the memories that come into your head when a song plays, or simply the way it makes you feel; music has always soundtracked my life.
Brass Knuckles
Music has permeated every part of our lives. It’s what we do for work, leisure and everything in between. It’s just as important to us as anything else we need to sustain a healthy life. So, to answer the question—music serves the purpose in inspiring, creating opportunities and keeping us feeling alive.
Jody Wisternoff
It brings aural pleasure, is a therapeutic, creative outlet, allows travel, and puts food on the table.
Klingande
This is our way to express our feelings and share things with the world.
Jamie Stewart
Music is a massive part of my life. Everyday, I am thinking of new ideas and in the studio. Producing music and DJing is my dream, and I will do everything to make that happen!
Benny Benassi
It’s not a job; it’s a way of life.
Paul Oakenfold
Music is everything in my life. I realized that at an early age and made a career out of it.
Dzeko & Torres
I think it’s safe to say that it can serve any purpose in both our lives. We’ve both been surrounded with it for years. It’s more than just entertainment; it can elevate your mood, help you focus, and so much more. We even listen to music while we fall asleep and leave it playing ’til we wake up.
Audien
Put it this way: If there were a global apocalypse and I was the lone survivor, I would get up the next day and start working on a new track. Music is everything—my nourishment, my outlet, my purpose.
Daedelus
Music makes sense. Little else does.
Florian Picasso
Express myself! And it allows me to feed my cat.
BOSCO
It’s my drug when I can’t go to the white stuff.
Gregori Klosman
It is my way to express what I have deep inside. It’s a security valve that allows me to have balance in my life.
Norman Doray
It’s everything—the reason I’m living.
