Imagine a Prince-on-helium loop sprinkled over a rumbling, bottom-heavy groove, and you’ve got a good sense for what “Hands Up”—the latest single by German tech-house masters M.in and Gunman—feels like.
Opening with a big kick drum and pushed along by whirling Afro-Latin rhythms, the dark, entrancing track is thick and gooey, yet it shimmies with limber, seductive ease. Out on Mar-T’s Wow! Recordings, the eponymous three-track EP marks the first time the Cajual Records regulars formally collaborate. After we got done conjuring disco spirits to it, all we could do was ask, “What took so long?”
