OC & Verde Revisit Rave “History” on New 2-Tracker for Octopus Recordings

Clicking play on OC & Verde’s “History” is like being dropped into a wormhole that spits you out into the middle of a throwback rave where some Bush or other is still president and DJs still haul vinyl.

Cavernous, near subsonic, and reminiscent of a Faithless vs. Frankie Bones spinoff, “History” thumps, whirrs, clicks, clangs, rattles, and rumbles its way around your reptile brain like a turbo pinball, pushing old-school buttons—echoing synth stabs, padded drum rolls, arpeggiated and percolating rhythms—until the springs pop and your spine starts feeling depleted.

The UK duo have been making some noise on the right labels recently, including Bedrock, Yoshitoshi, and Sian’s Octopus Recordings, which releases this rave kraken next week.
