Lex Luca Brings Angular Moves to the Dancefloor With “Jumpin”
London’s rising star Lex Luca is back with a one-two punch for In Tune, his recently minted imprint. And while “Can’t Take It” is a thunderous number, “Jumpin” is where Lex gets weird on the dancefloor.
This semi-classic tech house roller goes deep and off-kilter. Welcomed in by classic house samples, a quirky yet captivating bassline soon rolls in to set the mood. Aided by a slightly shuffled four-on-the-floor beat and some extra-dimensional robot vocals, “Jumpin” proves to be hypnotic and living in its own world. The vibe here is low and deep, but rising and falling flecks of acid merge into swells of percussive energy to keep disco creatures locked in from the first beat to the last. This is definitely the kind of slightly off-center tune that could lock in a dancefloor.
“I’m excited to share ‘Jumpin’ with you as part of the second EP on my label,” Luca tells Insomniac. “I made this one a couple of months ago. I wanted to create something with a bit of a bounce, and I drew from the classic Roland TR-303 for the acid line, which ties the whole thing together. I’ve played it out a few times, and it gets a great response on the dancefloor.”
Available November 24 via In Tune Recordings.
