Babalou Launches New Project With Euphoric Groover “El Sonido”
Colin Airey has long maintained a solid profile as a producer under an assortment of different aliases, popping up on huge stables like Armada and Spinnin’, though he’s launched a brand-new project for the new year in the form of Babalou. He’s landing with a resolute bang on Solardo’s Sola imprint with his debut In the Jungle EP, and we’ve got our hands on a small preview in the form of “El Sonido,” which we’re featuring as our Track of the Day.
“El Sonido” boasts a solid groove from the outset, though it’s also the most euphoric cut taken from the EP, building its techy momentum before upping the stakes with an early breakdown. From here, Babalou unleashes a catchy hook that weaves in and out of the mix, along with assorted slabs of synth and a chopped-up vocal hook, resulting in a track that’s uplifting and driving in equal measures.
Available January 11 via Sola Records.
