10 Places to Eat Clean and Veggie in Las Vegas
You know Vegas is a foodie town—full of more decadent delights and star chef sightings than an average day on the Food Network. But what if you’re a clean eater, or veggie/vegan, or just trying to balance yourself out? What do you do?
Believe it or not, you’re going to be okay. Because even if you don’t see it in the “so wrong it’s right” ads, Vegas does have plenty when it comes to clean eating, organics, vegetarian options, and even gluten-free. We could start with local fitness-minded chains, like Greens & Proteins and Protein Rush. But we don’t want you to think eating clean has to be all quinoa and skinless chicken breasts. So, here’s a short list of some of our favorite spots with a bit more flair.
Della’s Kitchen
While many of the higher-end restaurants often use local, sustainable and organic ingredients without even touting it, that becomes a bit more rare in casual places. One of our favorites is Della’s Kitchen at the Delano, which focuses on locally sourced ingredients, including Painted Hills Nevada ranch beef, farm eggs, and Mary’s organic chicken. Still, you can get a churro waffle or blue crab benedict, if that’s your style. The menu is breakfast/lunch only, with gluten-free items clearly marked.
Canyon Ranch Grill
Near the other end of the Strip, Canyon Ranch Grill is the café attached to the famous spa of the same name—on the second floor of the Venetian/Palazzo—and is also open for breakfast/lunch only. Many of the ingredients here are organic, and the menu clearly lists calories, fat and fiber in all dishes, including a build-your-own tofu scramble, roasted curried cauliflower wrap, and sustainable grilled ahi. This being Vegas, you can also get a cocktail made with organic gin, kale, celery and spinach juices. It’s actually not bad.
Juice Standard
Speaking of juices, if you’re looking to grab something faster, check out Juice Standard in the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, which really is the standard in town (there are two other off-Strip locations), with glass bottling, fully organic ingredients, and local cold pressing. Among their two-dozen-plus juice blends, mylks, smoothies, coffees and shots, keep an eye out for the Cosmopolitan with detoxifying bentonite clay, and the yummy Bee Excellent mylk. The raw vegan cheesecake needs no apologies. They also offer salads, wraps, toasts and chia seed puddings. It’s open from 7am–11pm, too!
Wynn and Encore
Want to splurge? Thanks to Steve Wynn’s commitment to veganism, every single restaurant in the Wynn and Encore resorts offers both vegetarian and vegan options, all up to his exacting standards. That includes our favorites, Mizumi (everything Japanese in a gorgeous setting) and Andrea’s, a clubby, fun, pan-Asian place that’s great for groups. There’s also the buffet and a lot more.
El Dorado Cantina
Now for something completely unexpected: a fully organic Mexican restaurant attached to a strip club. That may sound sketchy, but despite sharing a building with Sapphire’s, El Dorado Cantina is cool, classy and relatively sedate, offering a menu of authentic Mexico City–style dishes with carefully sourced ingredients (organic in all but name)—and that includes the chapulines (if you have to ask… haha, ask!). Don’t pass up the tableside guacamole, or at least one of the 100 tequilas available.
SkinnyFATS
Another local brand with a growing cult following, SkinnyFATS has a whimsical concept: a fast-casual menu split right down the middle between “healthy” and “happy” (or decadent) selections. So, you can get your multigrain protein pancakes, egg white frittata, or adobo-spiced veggie tacos while your friends order things called “Hot Mess” and “Pimp Shrimp.” We also like the free cucumber-lemon water and lots of outlets/USB chargers here. Three locations are available, but the Decatur option is likely the most convenient for EDC-goers.
Daily Kitchen Summerlin
This one may really be out of your way (unless you’re staying at the Element hotel across the street), but Daily Kitchen Summerlin is well worth the trip if you’re looking for healthy all-day breakfast under $10. They offer organic eggs, perfect rotisserie Mary’s organic chicken, great salads, and sides like curried cauliflower, crispy Brussels sprouts, and truffled Israeli couscous—plus frozen Greek yogurt. Order online for quick pickup.
Mothership Coffee Roasters
Looking for something sweeter? Detour to Mothership Coffee Roasters in Green Valley, where they make a daily selection of farm-to-table-inspired, creatively rustic sweets that would be fawned over in any big city—things like vegan lavender gluten-free “twinkies,” gluten-free crusted quiches, and apple-almond galette (also vegan). The selection changes daily; some of it is also available at their sister spot, Sunrise Coffee.
Vege-Way
Every vegan has dreamed of it: A drive-thru fast food spot that has everything your favorite burger joint does, only it’s meatless. Guess what? Meet Vege-Way, which took over a former Dunkin Donuts, serving burgers, fries, almond milk shakes and more—all 100 percent vegan. The burger may not taste completely like meat, but it’s good—and the shakes hold up against the best in town. It’s open every night until 9pm. Chef and owner Kenny Chye also runs the amazing vegetarian Chinese Veggie House on Spring Mountain, likewise recommended.
Bonus level: There’s a lot more to explore around Las Vegas for clean eaters, but a few other spots we like or hear good things about are Maison du Maggie (gluten-free savory buckwheat French crepes), Simply Pure, Eatt, Violette’s Vegan, Vegenation and Panchos Vegan Tacos. Got a favorite?
