Dance Music Is Coming to the Silver Screen With Daft Punk and Zac Efron
If you’re into movies and you’re into dance music, today’s a good day. First up, here’s the trailer for Eden, which chronicles the French electronic music scene in the 1990s—including, of course, Daft Punk. The movie traces the duo’s formative years (“I thought you guys would be dressed up as punks” a partygoer asks), covering drugs, sex, and their quest to bring the garage sound to France. It also features music from house music legend Frankie Knuckles. Eden will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this Sunday.
Up next, we have Zac Efron playing a Los Angeles-based DJ in We Are Your Friends. Movie director Max Joseph gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look into the film, a “coming of age” story about L.A.’s flourishing dance music scene. While not quite a trailer, the clip, narrated by Joseph, offers some insight into the film (and yes, there’s a shirtless Efron).
