Dressed to Death: 5 Amazing Makeup Tutorials to Perfect Your Rave Getup
Escape: All Hallows’ Eve is just around the corner, as is our Boo! New York Halloween massive, and we know you ghouls love to get all dolled-up for Insomniac. We absolutely love your creative side, and Halloween season is the perfect time to release your inner beast. But even the best divas need a little inspiration now and again.
When we found YouTube makeup artist Made Yew Look, we screamed with delight. Not only does she serve spooktacular looks, she takes you through each devilish design step-by-step.
Check these five freakishly horrifying tutorials, and apply your skills to be the best-dressed party monster at the boo ball. We’d say these aren’t for beginners, but we dare anyone to try it.
Wednesday Addams
We don’t want to scare you away just yet, so we’ll start with something on the easier side. Who doesn’t love The Addams Family? Wednesday is the original bitch. Capturing her look is a great way to get compliments and have a little fun without having to spend literally hours on your face. Just remember not to smile—ever. We’re including the list of products used, straight from the MadeYewLook YouTube page. She also sells her own products via her site, so check it out.
Products Used:
• BH Cosmetics Black Eyeshadow
• Naked 1 Palette (Naked, Buck)
• Urban Decay Primer Potion
• House of Lashes bottom lashes (Darling)
• LashGrip Eyelash Adhesive
• Body paint was used for the lips, but I also recommend Pretty Zombie’s “Black Cat” Lip cream
• MadeULook Liquid Eyeliner (official name and product not released yet)
Walking Dead
This looks completely disgusting and is way easier to do than you’d imagine. Most of it is sponge work, and there’s really no way you can mess that up. Fair warning: You’ll need some color palettes, but it’s Halloween. A trip to your local costume shop should be sufficient. Have a little fun with your zombie. Bite your friends (okay, not literally). Go as a whole crew of undead ravers. BTW, the zombie walk doubles as an awesome dance move.

Doll Face
Let’s kick it up a notch with this seemingly complicated but totally doable doll face tutorial. You don’t have to be a superstar pro to pull this off; you just have to be willing to put in the time. The effect is out of this world, and because there’s so much blending, we think there’s a lot of room for “error” without totally ruining the final product. Tweak the tutorial to make it your own.

Killer Clown
Yo, Stephen King’s It has nothing on this two-faced freak show. We’re definitely taking the skill level up a peg on this one, as you’re going to have to imagine two faces on top of your own, and it will take a little skillful side work. We still believe that you should never say never. Give it a try, unless you or anyone you know is afraid of clowns. These faces can never be unseen.
Products Used:
• Graftobian Pro Paint (white, black/grey)
• Mehron Paradise Paint (red, violet)
• FAB Tan Body Paint
SCAREcrow
This may be the most horrifying of all, though that could just be our bias. Definitely a lot of detail work done here, but Lex walks you through it all. She makes us feel like we could take on anything. Why don’t you try these out and send us some pics? Send her the pics, too, on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Products Used:
• Mehron Paradise Paint (dark brown, light brown, black, lime, yellow, green)
• BH Cosmetics Eyeshadow (black, brown)
