EDSee Orlando: Damaged Goods Picks His Favorite Spots to Grub and Party Like a Local
With so much to do and even more to see, how do you know where to spend your time when you’re in town for this year’s EDC Orlando? Trusting a Florida native is likely your best bet. Hailing from Miami, Obi Tawil, aka Damaged Goods, certainly knows a thing or two about good food and great partying. We asked for all his can’t-miss recommendations on the spots he likes to hit up in “The City Beautiful.”
Gringos Locos
Having a late-night burrito or taco after a night of DJing is great—if you like greasy, heavy and good. Plus, it is walking distance from all the clubs and bars in Downtown Orlando. I suggest the Mouth Hugger Burrito. The ambience? Very much like a typical bar or burrito place, but it’s clean and intimate, and the staff is nice.
Lazy Moon
The biggest pizza slices ever (huge!), with lots of variations of pizzas, too.
Pom Pom’s
Best sandwiches and tea I know! The best. I’ve had famous sandwich places in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Toronto, Atlanta, D.C., Charlotte, and more—nothing compares.
Kabooki
Great little intimate sushi spot. It’s very fairly priced, with a great atmosphere, lots of different choices of rolls and plates.
Graffiti Junktion
Great bar food and atmosphere. Mostly young professionals… aka nice, good-looking people. Expect a very loud and energetic vibe on Sundays for football, more chill during happy hour and daytime. Favorite menu item? I suggest ordering a Graffiti Double ($11), a double bacon American cheeseburger served on a brioche bun.
Tier Nightclub / ONO Nightclub
Great spot to party in the heart of Downtown Orlando. Probably the best-looking crowd and atmosphere in the city. You’ll hear different genres, depending on the night you’re there. There are two levels, with a dancefloor in the middle of the first floor, with tables surrounding it. DJ booth is elevated, and there are also tables on the second level. Easy place to walk around. Bars on either side of the first floor.
Cowboys
If you want to switch up the vibe and hear some country music, this is the place. I don’t really listen to country music, and Cowboys is still a great place to go with friends and drink! I think everyone (ravers included) feels welcome here, no matter what—it’s all about having some fun and having good drinks.
Avenue Gastrobar
Great food and drinks, all the time. Order the loaded tots and three-cheese mac—the best.
Wall Street in Downtown
Great area of bars and food and live entertainment. Taco Tuesday is amazing here. $3 tacos/tequila/Mexican beers/margaritas from 2pm–2am, giving you lots of time to party and eat. Expect a packed house from 6pm–12am.
Orlando Eye
Great tourist spot, it’s the largest observation wheel on the East Coast. The iconic 400-foot-tall observation wheel provides breathtaking views of Central Florida in all directions, with sights of Downtown Orlando’s skyline, theme parks, lakes, and lush landscape, and on a clear day, views of Cape Canaveral on the East Coast.
Mathers Social Gathering
Owned by the same people as Tier Great, this is a great spot to hang out, enjoy craft drinks with some friends. It’s a small, intimate place, with an upscale vibe and lots of antique pieces and design everywhere. Something different and cool in Orlando.
