Halloween DIY: False Eyelashes
When it comes to Halloween, playing dress-up takes on a whole new meaning. As you’ll see below, lots of Headliners make use of false eyelashes to level-up their festival look. It might seem daunting trying to apply these dainty adhesives, but once you do, you’ll find they’re well worth the trouble. To get in on the false eyelash action, just follow our easy DIY steps below.
What you’ll need to apply them:
Eyelashes: It’s no secret that false lashes come in countless styles and colors. Pick whichever pair you think will add the oomph you’re looking for.
Eyelash glue: Glue is often included when you buy false lashes, but if you’re looking for a trusted brand, most professionals recommend using DUO Eyelash Adhesive. Not only is it waterproof, but it will keep your lashes secure throughout the night. You can find DUO at your local drugstore, department store, cosmetic shop or online.
Eyelash curler: Some people prefer the look of thicker, longer lashes. Curling your natural lashes before you apply the false lashes will instantly lift up your eyes and make them appear more open. Try different curling techniques to find the one that fits your desired look.
Eyeliner: Use eyeliner to help fill and blend the beginning of the synthetic eyelash track with the rest of your eye makeup. We recommend using a bold eyeliner color to complement your look.
What you’ll need to remove them:
Makeup remover: Let’s face it: The last thing you feel like doing after an event is removing your makeup and lashes. However, it’s essential for maintaining healthy skin and preventing breakouts. Before washing your face at the end of the night, make sure you remove all makeup, including false lashes and any leftover adhesive. There are several options when it comes to makeup removers, ranging from liquid to soaps to wipes. Any of these options will work fine for removing your eyelashes, as long as the job is done thoroughly.
Cotton swabs: If you decide to use liquid makeup remover, use cotton swabs to remove any excess eyeliner or adhesive.
How to apply them:
1) Curl your eyelashes just a tiny bit before you start applying your synthetic lashes.
2) To take the lashes out of the packaging, gently peel them from one end to the other. Pro tip: Hold them up to your eye and compare their length to your own lash line. If they’re too long, trim the ends with scissors.
3) Apply an even layer of eyelash glue across the lash band.
4) It’s very important to wait a few seconds and let the glue begin to dry before you apply the false lashes. Then carefully place each one along on your top eyelid, directly above your real lashes. Pro tip: It helps to use tweezers to hold the lashes.
5) Make sure to secure both ends of each eyelash to your lash base to prevent them from coming off later.
6) Wait for the glue to dry. It will be clear when it has dried completely.
7) Gently curl your real and false eyelashes together to unite them. You can also apply mascara to both to make them even fuller.
8) Apply eyeliner over the top of your real and false lashes to create a cohesive look.
As with anything, practice makes perfect. If the false lashes don’t apply correctly the first time, try again. They may feel heavy on your eyelids at first, but over time the feeling should go away. Make sure to take some pictures of your finished look. There’s nothing like false lashes to make your eyes pop in photos!
