iQ: Nervo
We capture a mental fingerprint of some of our musical and cultural heroes and preserve it in cyber-amber for the wonderment of future generations. This is the Insomniac Questionnaire.
What was your favorite toy as a child, and when and why did you stop playing with it?
Liv: My bear, and I stopped playing with it because he had so many holes in him by the end that everywhere I took him, white fluff would come out. He’s still around, actually. He was a present from my grandma. We both got one.
Mim: We used to play doctor on them and like, cut them and pretend to fix him up. Being toys, they never really healed.
What is the best advice you’ve ever gotten? Did you take it?
Mim: Yes, from our mentor, who said, “It’s all collateral.” When things dip in your career and you’re almost at the breaking point of giving up, we had someone that said, “Don’t worry, girls, just stay true to yourselves and keep going, because it’s all collateral, and you never know where one thing leads to another. It all comes around.”
What part of your day do you look forward to most?
Liv: Morning, noon and night. Afternoon time. Plane time. Studio time. Sleeping time.
Mim: Seeing-our-friends time.
Liv: Chilling-out time.
What’s the best time you’ve ever had without spending money?
Mim: Being with best friends, just chatting, hanging and chilling.
Liv: You don’t need money to have a great time.
What is your most treasured possession?
Liv: This is really tragic, but my laptop. It’s got my work, my photos, my life.
Mim: If I lost my laptop, I would just die.
What is your favorite word?
Liv: “Love.”
Mim: I was going to say “yes.”
Do you owe an apology to anyone?
Liv: Yes. Ex-boyfriends.
Mim: It’s nothing too bad, but I should probably be nicer to my dad sometimes.
When is the last time you were really scared?
Liv: In an airplane, and the plane almost went down.
Mim: Mine was probably when my mum got diagnosed with cancer. That’s a bit heavy.
What is the last thing you googled?
Liv: I googled a cute boy that I met.
Mim: I googled an artist I met a few nights ago that we’re going to feature on one of our records. I wanted to check out what he’s like.
What’s the last sound you would want to hear before you die?
Liv: I’d probably want to hear silence.
Mim: Would I want to hear music, because music would just make me want to live, and then I’d be depressed because I’m hearing amazing music.
How do you measure success?
Liv: Happiness.
Mim: Yeah.
If you could have one magical/super power, what would you want?
Liv: To be invisible.
Mim: To be able to time travel. I’d be able to blink my eyes and fly from England to America with no jetlag. Or to never need to sleep. I could hang during the night and the day and never need to pause.
What do you remember about your first kiss?
Liv: Oh, it was horrible. Disgusting. The guy was trying to shove his tongue so far down my throat that I couldn’t breathe. I was going to vomit. I was actually looking up at the sky, and the next thing I know, the guy was in my face. I was like, “It’s my first kiss! It’s disgusting!”
Mim: I didn’t know I had to open my mouth, so all I remember is his mouth hitting my teeth and thinking, “This is not like a movie.”
What four words best describe you?
Liv: It depends what mood you get me in. If I haven’t slept, crabby.
Mim: Fun, loud, hardworking…
What’s the last impulsive thing you did?
Liv: I ordered steak on room service.
Mim: I do impulsive things all the time, like book trips randomly or stay out longer than I should.
Do you have a pet?
Liv: We have a family dog called Molly back in Australia right now. She’s not really ours; we got her for mom and dad.
What is your strongest (or best) personality trait?
Liv: Hardworking.
Mim: Passionate
Do you believe in any conspiracy theories or urban legends?
Liv: I think Princess Diana was definitely killed.
Mim: Oh yeah, that’s a good one.
Have you ever had a brush with the paranormal or supernatural?
Liv: Actually, we’ve got to go! Our set starts in 10 minutes.
