These Sound-Canceling Earplugs Play Soothing Noises to Help You Sleep
We’ve all tried sleeping through the next-door neighbor’s house party, or lying next to someone snoring so loudly that they almost vibrate the bed, or on a long road trip during which the driver insists on listening to nothing but Hardwell at high volume.
Annoying.
While basic earplugs can be helpful in such scenarios, they typically don’t block out all sounds or induce a restful sleep. However, Hush earplugs not only cancel noise, but have built-in speakers that play a variety of soothing, sleep-inducing sounds, including those of falling rain, thunderstorms, a waterfall, and ocean waves. The app also offers binaural beats, which encourage various brain states, including deep rest and relaxation. The earplugs work by syncing with an app, making it possible to control them entirely from your smartphone.
So that you don’t sleep through your alarm or important phone calls, the app also allows you to play a morning wakeup call, ringtone and other sound notifications through the earplugs.
Currently on Kickstarter, the project has exceeded its $100,000 fundraising goal more than five times over. The earplugs are expected to go on sale to the general public in mid-2015, retailing at $149.
