Alex Kennon Unleashes Percussive Tech Tool “Wild Child”
After blowing up on the sandy patches of paradise in Ibiza over the past few years, Alex Kennon is currently staring at his biggest year to date. The Italian producer has a season’s worth of crucial clubs lined up, including gigs at Extrema Festival, BPM Festival Portugal, and his residencies on the White Isle. There’s no question he’s going to be pulling out all the stops for each and every set, as he’s known to dig deep into the realms of percussive-driven house and techno. His latest release fits snugly into that category and is about to surface on Nic Fanciulli’s esteemed Saved Records imprint.
The title cut, “Wild Child,” has been a secret weapon in Fanciulli’s own sets in recent times, and now the trippy percussive tool is reaching the public this Friday. Kennon programs the drums to layer incrementally until the rhythm develops into an infectious frenzy with its intricate fills and graceful movement. He introduces a cool and collected vocal sample before pulling it out of the picture and letting the oscillating synthlines whir and purr over the percussive bedrock. It’s his drumwork that really steals the show here, and we absolutely need to catch Alex Kennon on one of his European dates so we can hear him rinse this one on a proper sound system.
Available May 25 via Saved Records.
