Antic Arrives on Anjunadeep With the Deep-Funk Wonder of “Touch of My Soul”
While Anjunadeep fans might not be familiar with the name Antic, they’ll surely be familiar with the duo he used to be part of—Journeyman, who are responsible for sumptuously deep anthems like “Crash Reel.” Antic is now going solo, and he’s set to make a big splash next week with his three-track Touch of My Soul EP. The lead track was originally unveiled by none other than the Anjuna label bosses, Above & Beyond, at ABGT250 last year, during their “Deep Set” at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington. Now, we’re previewing the final release.
“Touch of My Soul” made a big impact to anyone who witnessed Above & Beyond’s stunning warmup set last October, as well on the Anjunadeep 09 compilation that arrived shortly after that. Throwing a rhythmic curveball with beats that twist differently from your average deep-house groove, its falsetto vocals lead the track toward its memorable emotional peak.
“‘Touch of My Soul’ was one of the first tracks I made after moving to Barcelona,” Antic says. “I think it conveys both the color and vibrancy of Barcelona and the nostalgia of leaving the UK. That was my mental state at the time.”
Available February 16 via Anjunadeep.
