Cassian
Genre: Progressive House
Origin: Australia
Cassian is a live electronic musician based in Los Angeles. An accomplished producer, DJ, and mixing engineer, he cemented his name as one of the most versatile talents to emerge from Sydney’s flourishing electronic scene.
With early roots in the club world, Cassian began releasing music in 2009 and quickly gained online and live traction over the following years. He started working in the studio with an at-the-time emerging Australian trio, RÜFÜS DU SOL, and proceeded to mix their critically-acclaimed albums, Bloom and Solace, earning him multiple ARIA awards and a Grammy nomination. Playing an integral role in projects from Hayden James, What So Not, Crooked Colours, Set Mo, Graace, Running Touch, and many more celebrated names, Cassian’s prolific work behind the scenes has landed him multiple gold & platinum certifications.
In 2018, Cassian became the first artist on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s imprint Rose Avenue, where he’s released buzzing singles “Lafayette,” “Same Things,” and “Magical” with ZOLLY (Phil Slabber of Crooked Colours). Throughout 2019, he dropped a handful of carefully curated, culturally embedded remixes for Bob Moses, Yotto, Hayden James, and RÜFÜS DU SOL, which have seen his star continue to rise in the club scene.
A respected and seasoned performer, Cassian has played for tens of thousands alongside the likes of Hayden James, Dom Dolla, RÜFÜS DU SOL, and Yotto, while also selling out his own headline shows. He emphasizes creating engaging live experiences, ranging from club-oriented DJ sets to his unique live show, and has brought his sound to festivals throughout the US (Coachella, Lollapalooza, Electric Forest, etc.) and Australia (Beyond The Valley, Lost Paradise, etc.) while poised to expand worldwide.
Now, he’s gearing up for the release of his debut album, Laps: a raw, analog-driven LP showcasing Cassian’s tenacity for polished songwriting and dramatic sonic landscapes. Exploring the cyclical nature of relationships, it’s easily his most personal work to date, and a signpost for the future direction of the Cassian project.
In many ways, Cassian is entering a new era of his career; having relocated to Los Angeles, and standing on the precipice of his first-ever album, the future is bright for the young Sydney musician. With his sights set on building out his live show and progressing his distinct sound, Cassian is undeniably coming into his own as an artist, and it’s impossible not to be excited for what’s to come.
