Jayda G
Origin: Canada
Canadian by birth and now Berlin based, Jayda G has risen steadily and stealthily through the dance music underground with her infectious energy, vitality, rhythm and boundless enthusiasm. Now with the release of her debut album Significant Changes – a blend of vintage drum machine funk drawing heavily on Chicago’s house blueprint – out on Ninja Tune in 2019 she is taking over dance floors everywhere in 2019.
The album comes hot on the heels of a sold-out February residency at London’s Phonox; the launch of her science-based interview series “JMG Talks”; a BBC Essential Mix packed with soul, classic disco and house, her first BBC R1 Residency show, and her unveiling as Mixmag’s April cover star (cover mix / 10 page feature).
Renowned for her high-energy performances as a DJ – Jayda G has played all over the world including a praised Boiler Room set at Dekmantel in 2017 and Field Day, Melt!, Night + Day Bilbao plus nights for Rhythm Section, The Hydra and Warehouse Project in 2019. Jayda’s 2019 touring takes her across 12 countries including stops in India, China and Japan and many key festivals including Lovebox, Primavera Sound, Dimensions, Kala, Lente Kabinet (Dekmantel’s sister event), Oasis, SuncéBeat 10, Lost Village, All Together Now and more.

The album received prominent Apple Music and iTunes store promo including a US Homepage placement, Flowcase banners on UK plus and adds to Apple Music Loops in 42 territories, Best of the Week & Midnight City in the US.
Her debut LP is a natural progression following a string of EPs both solo and alongside friend DJ Fett Burger (Sex Tags Mania) on their jointly run (until 2018) Freakout Cult label, alongside releases on 1080p and Swedish label Geography Records, including 2018’s standout “Diva Bitch” single and “Sacred Spaces” on her newly established JMG Recordings imprint. She also recently remixed Little Dragon’s latest track ‘Lover Chanting’.
Jayda has a Masters in Resource and Environmental Management specialising in environmental toxicology, wherein she investigated the effects of human activity on the Salish Sea killer whales (orcas) of Vancouver, in her native British Columbia. It was also the year that she finished recording her album “Significant Changes”. The title of the album, was the most used phrase in her final thesis, and is a demonstration of how inextricably linked her work in science is with her work in music.
