SOS, has historically been a call for help, but perhaps the time has come to give those acronyms a louder meaning: that of Sisters Of Sound, the collective and record label run from Los Angeles by British DJs Maddy Maia and Tottie, who in the midst of the uncertainty of 2020 set out to give visibility and support to the community of women and gender minority folks who populate the international electronic music scene. Their releases, curated events and radio shows are not about damsels in distress, but about artists with a voice of their own that deserve to be heard.

SOS Music have been releasing critically acclaimed compilations and EPs since 2020, curated club takeovers across North America, and worked collaboratively with Dolby Atmos, Mixcloud, DUBLAB, and Worldwide FM. It’s fair to say that in just three years, SOS Music has made a significant impact within the independent dance community across the US, UK and Europe.

Widespread support for their mission at press, radio and DSPs includes features in Flaunt Magazine, Stamp The Wax, Resident Advisor, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Crack Mag, Juno, Rough Trade and Bandcamp. Radio support includes BBC 6 Music, KCRW & BBC Introducing + Sirius FM. SOS Music has held radio residencies on Worldwide Fm, dublab and Lot Radio. At DSP level – the label heads have curated Spotify’s editorial playlist ‘All Night’, had multiple inclusions in New Music Friday UK, over ten Altar additions, Halo, Altar Jp, Women Of Electronic, Techno State, Electric Circus, Electronic Rising. Deezer ran an ADE special with several SOS artists & Maddy Maia’s track earned her the cover of Amazon’s Electronic Rising Artist playlist and cover.
