Seattle native Julian Paez is now based in Chicago as he produces under the name Tazu. The 21 year old artist merges future bass, electronic dance, and deep house into bright synthetic sounds that are interlinked with sharp bass drops that will bring you to your feet. Being half Japanese and half American, Tazu gives us a taste of both sides of anti-pop culture. Julian carries experience within the live music scene in Chicago since 2018. From opening for Whethan to Gryffin to playing his own shows, he has grown to identify variables that impact the crowd as well as navigate what sounds match the audiences’ spirit. Julian has also performed at The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago during the annual “21 Minus” event as he was featured as one of the rising young artists. Aside from opening for various respected artists, Julian has played at festivals such as JawBreaker in Wisconsin and Summer Camp in Illinois. Tazu continues to expand his horizons as he brings a new wave of music in 2022. Sharing his love for music by experimenting with genres like indie-pop and dance, Tazu will give you something to bounce too.
