The Upbeats
Genre: Drum & Bass
Origin: New Zealand
Hailing from Wellington, New Zealand, Jeremy Glenn and Dylan Jones are The Upbeats, one of the most legendary DJ/production teams to emerge out of the fertile New Zealand music scene.
Known for their eclectic tastes and energetic stage presence, The Upbeats deliver speaker-rattling sets to shake all manner of crowds, from festival glitterati at Pukkelpop, Shambhala and Glastonbury, to diehard bassheads at Outlook, EDC and Boomtown. Dancefloor banger, EDM clanger, introspective emo, promising demo – all have their place in an Upbeats’ set.
Whilst refining their craft on stage, The Upbeats have been redefining what is possible in the studio. Comfortably flexing their studio skills from emotional material for the headphones to dance-floor bangers for the club has given The Upbeats sway to collaborate with or remix for the likes of Ed Rush and Optical, Noisia, Bad Company, Ivy Lab, Culture Shock, Halogenix, Shapeshifter and Submotion Orchestra, amongst many others.
With five studio albums under their belt, numerous awards and number 1 singles, and tunes on some of the most respected drum and bass labels in the scene (including Vision, Critical, and Virus Recordings), they continue to push the envelope time and again. Their last 3 New Zealand tours sold out in their entirety. Their track ‘Dead Limit’ w/ Noisia won them best track at the DNB Arena Awards and quickly became a modern classic. From George FM in New Zealand to Rinse FM in the UK, The Upbeats are in demand for appearances and residencies on radio stations in both hemispheres. Their tracks are in high rotation on the BBC, and have been used in popular video games.
Still as passionate about the creation and performance of music as they were ten years ago, The Upbeats continue to set standards across the board. Hold tight for the next episode.
