Corrupt (UK) Brings Some Very Serious Business to Bass House on “It’s Not OK”
UK-based low-end artist Corrupt (UK) has been slowly climbing up the ranks of the bass house world over the past few years. He’s moved from a handful of somewhat smaller releases to picking up a J-Trick remix on Dim Mak, and he’s even landed a spot on This Is Night Bass Vol.6. In fact, his equally gritty and catchy tune “Intentions” did so well on that comp that he’s about to drop a whole EP on AC Slater’s Night Bass label. Staying true to his style so far, this one weighs a rough aesthetic against dancefloor magic.
“As a relatively unknown artist from the UK, I’m so excited that a label like Night Bass has given me the opportunity the show my variety of sounds to a wider audience,” Corrupt tells Insomniac about the EP.
“It’s Not OK,” the EP’s title track, is big tune that runs deep and heavy. A driving four-on-the floor-beat fires straight away, while the vocal aid of Natz sets the tone with classic UK croons. Driving but light and airy at this point, the cut rises up to drop down into a bassline that is just mad. Carrying the kind of melodic style Corrupt has shown off in previous tracks, it leans in with a hard demeanor.
Beyond the voice of Natz really helping this tune pop, alongside a serious bassline, the use of those hooks in the production really takes things to the next level. UK fans will absolutely connect with a solid track like this, but even those with less of a foundation in these sounds will not help but be totally sucked in. “It’s Not OK” is bound to get the party going on more than one occasion.
Available January 11 via Night Bass.
