David Penn Supplies a Tremendous Groove for Sneaky Sound System’s “Can’t Help the Way That I Feel”
The Cr2 Records stable counts among the most consistent and prolific out there for house music over the past 15 years, often taking an under-the-radar approach to showcasing work from some of electronic music’s biggest artists. Back in July, it hosted the new single from stalwart Australian party-starters Sneaky Sound System, and we’re featuring a brand-new and rather seductive remix from David Penn as our Track of the Day.
Penn is a Madrid-based producer who has been smashing the floor in recent times through releases on Defected, Papa, Armada Subjekt, and his own Urbana Recordings. For his rework, he draws rather sparingly from the vocals of Sneaky Sound System’s original “Can’t Help the Way That I Feel,” holding it back for the midpoint breakdown. Instead, the focus is on layered percussion, a whopping bassline, and a tremendously powerful groove. This one is a dancefloor weapon that ticks all the right boxes.
Available September 28 via Cr2 Records.
