Dead Space and Lex & Wood Breathe Freshness Into Classic Vibes on “Steamboat Willy”
Previous Discovery Project winner Dead Space has teamed up with the talented duo Lex & Wood to bring fresh sounds to classic styles through a catchy tune called “Steamboat Willy.” With an impressive list of releases between the two parties, it’s no surprise this track is as well thought-out as it is simple and hypnotic.
“Steamboat Willy” thumps in with a cold midnight tech-house kick, softly joined by an interstellar ping. Quickly, however, a bright pad rhythmically floats through the mix, bringing a glowing warmth with it. The tension and energy build—punctuated with hints of classic house—until it finally explodes with the kind of semi-religious speech that instantly wraps house heads in a familiar embrace. It is this continued dichotomy of sounds and styles, along with an ever-rolling dynamic of energy that will keep listeners fixed to the edges of their seats (or tips of their toes).
“‘Steamboat Willy’ is an exciting, high-energy track produced for that peak-hour occasion,” Dead Space tells Insomniac. “The hypnotic atmosphere, coupled with the soul-touching pastor sermon and stabbing synths, create a chilling connection with the crowd before leading into a groovy, sub-shaking bassline and pounding drum beat that will leave any dancefloor rocking.”
Together, they have crafted a bona fide banger of a track, equal parts crowd-pleasing throwback and forward-thinking production. Make sure to grab it on Friday, when it drops on Rawsome’s new Raw Cuts 2017compilation.
