It’s a good time to be Firebeatz. The Dutch duo, composed of DJ/producer combo Tim Smulders and Jurre van Doeselaar, just celebrated the 1 million Facebook followers milestone, and as a huge thanks to their dedicated fan base, they have unleashed their new, errrr, fire beats via festival banger “Unlocked.” Add the newly released video for their electro house stomper, “Go,” to the equation, and Firebeatz are having the best week ever.

Things could only go up for the duo, who have skyrocketed through the ranks of the electronic world and to the top of the festival circuit via numerous #1 Beatport records, collaborations with electronic heavyweights Calvin Harris, Tiësto and Martin Garrix, and remixes for the pop elite, including Rihanna, Justin Timberlake and Pink. As one of the quickest rising acts on the revered Spinnin’ Records roster, Firebeatz have solidified their place on the world’s mainstage via their energy bomb party anthems “Helicopter,” “Arsonist,” “No Heroes,” “Samir’s Theme,” and their remix of house classic “Calabria.”

Firebeatz are currently gearing up for a massive performance at Beyond Wonderland Bay Area next weekend, where they’ll take over Queen’s Domain on night one of the two-day festival. To help get the party started, they have dropped this heavy exclusive mix, filled with original tracks, remixes and songs from some of our favorite DJs, including Martin Solveig & GTA, Martin Garrix, Axwell & Ingrosso, Tiësto and the Chainsmokers.

Congrats! You just reached 1 million Facebook followers. What about the song “Unlocked” made you want to release it to celebrate this milestone? Were you sitting on the track for a while, waiting for the perfect time?
We made this track for our own sets. We started playing it, and we were finishing it around the same time we reached the milestone on Facebook. As a big thank you to our fans and for the ongoing support, we wanted to give something back.

Many of your fans have been comparing “Unlocked” to your previous release, “Darkside.” Did you seek inspiration from “Darkside” when producing “Unlocked”?
Actually, both songs are going back to our roots. When we started producing and DJing together, we listened to a lot of different music, but these kinds of grooves always had our interest. You can definitely put these tracks in the same genre.

You guys have played a few of our shows before—most recently EDC Las Vegas, and soon Beyond Wonderland Bay Area as well. Do you notice anything different or anything that stands out when performing at Insomniac festivals?
Always—when we play at an Insomniac festival, we notice there are a lot of people who come to rave and have an epic time. The stages and production are always on point, and we just always have a great time playing.

You’ve collaborated with the biggest names in dance music, have produced a dozen hits, and have gained international fame. Where do you see yourselves going from here? Where will Firebeatz be in five years?
In five years, we hope to still do what we love, and that is producing and touring around the world. In five years, we hope to have produced our first album. For our shows, we always try to take it to the next level, so in five years we hope to do a Firebeatz stadium tour with the sickest production around.

Where is somewhere—club, festival or city—you’d really like to play but haven’t had a chance to yet?
We haven’t played in Tokyo yet; that is a place we really want to go. Hopefully we can make it this year, as we heard a lot of amazing stories about it, and we just love Japanese food!

Given your Dutch heritage, what differences and similarities can you draw between Dutch and American dance music culture right now?
The American dance music culture is huge at the moment. Our home country is very small compared to the USA, but you can hear dance music on mainstream radio all day. The American crowd is definitely more raving than the Dutch.

You typically play a lot of your own songs in your sets. With that said, is there someone else’s track that’s been hitting particularly hard in your sets lately—one that you enjoy playing out right now?
We always love Chocolate Puma tracks, and we play their songs a lot.

Tell us a bit about this mix you’ve made for us.
As this mix is the pre-party mix, we tried to get everybody as hyped as possible for Beyond. We played a lot of our own songs and intended to keep it at a high energy level.
