Get the Feels With This Exclusive Illenium Playlist for Middlelands
Upcoming Event
San Francisco native (now based in Denver) Nick Miller, aka Illenium, has been creating and remixing tracks that hit deep in the heart—have a listen to “Falling In,” “So Wrong,” and the freshly minted “Fractures” (with Nevve), as well as remix work for the Chainsmokers, Flume and Odesza for some sonic reference. While you’re at it, dig in to his 2016 EP, Ashes, as it’s nothing short of pure musical magic.
In addition to his prowess in the studio crafting heartfelt tunes, Illenium has that musical magic as a selector. So, we asked him to compile an exclusive playlist for our inaugural medieval-themed festival, Middlelands.
Are you a fan of medieval/fantasy culture, à la Game of Thrones?
Absolutely! Game of Thrones is one of my favorite TV shows, and I’m stoked to see how it all plays out in the dance scene. Seems like an awesome setting to play in.
This is the first-ever so-called “Renaissance rave” of its kind, where medieval imagination meets modern-day rave/festival culture. What in the hell do you think that means, and what are you expecting at the inaugural Middlelands?
I think that means I’ll see a lot of awesome costumes and stage design. I’m really looking forward to all the production and seeing how everything is set up!
Are you dressing up for your performance at Middlelands?
We’ll see, haha! If I were to dress up, I’d probably have to go with something from Lord of the Rings.
What can fans expect from you at your Middlelands performance?
I’ve been playing out two new songs from my upcoming album that are unreleased, and a bootleg of an Angels & Airwaves track. We’ll see if they make it into my set. Definitely going to try and make it a special set that nobody has heard before.
Catch Illenium this May at Middlelands, and you’ll catch all the right feels. Tickets are available here.
The first-ever Middlelands takes place Friday, May 5, through Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the Texas Renaissance Festival Fair Grounds in Todd Mission, TX. For more information, visit the official website.
