Groovebox Crafts Infectious Tribal-Tinged Tech House With “La Danse”
Nic Fanciulli’s Saved Records imprint is moving toward 15 years of delivering quality house and techno, a paragon of underground consistency. And yet, it’s looking like it still has miles and miles to go. At the start of next month, the imprint is dropping its brand-new, 10-track Collection G compilation, featuring exclusives from an even mix of label regulars and upcoming talent, counting off names like Denney, Carlo Lio, and the Deepshakerz. But it’s Spanish house specialist Groovebox and his tasty tech house cut that we’re previewing as our Track of the Day.
“La Danse” is heavy on the tribal percussion and equally thick with sexy grooves. The drums are out in full force from its opening seconds, joined imminently by a deep bassline and some sultry slo-mo vocals, before Groovebox winds the energy right up with a powerful buildup.
“With ‘La Danse,’ I really focused on getting the percussion right, as intricate and driving as possible, and then built the rest of the track around that,” Groovebox tells Insomniac. “Hopefully, with that big bass sound and the vocal, it’s something that will really get people moving!”
Available March 1 via Saved Records.
