Jay Tripwire Beams “The Energy of the Room” Into the Cosmos
“The Energy of the Room” by Dutch duo Nightsteppaz and New York veteran Roland Clark featuring remixes by Joeski, MANIK, Chris Luzz, and left-field legend Jay Tripwire drops on their new label, Vibe Me to the Moon on December 1. On it, Joeski goes for the big drums, MANIK gives you acid, Luzz goes for the Balearic marathon, and Tripwire—in sync with the imprint’s name—goes cosmic on his dub remix, casting Clark’s disembodied spoken words adrift on a deep, crisp minimal groove of shuffling rhythms, gurgling bass, laser squelches, and percussive flourishes.
Every now and then, NASA sends or receives music to or from outerspace. Tripwire’s crepuscular remix of “The Energy of the Room” would fit perfectly in either transmission. As a sign from Earth, its lean, hypnotic funk casts humans in a seductive and sophisticated light; as an incoming message, it sparks hope that intelligent life likes to boogie down in the outer limits as much as we do.
Available December 1 via Vibe Me to the Moon Records.
