Meet the Beyond SoCal 2017 Discovery Project Competition Winners

It’s always a greet feeling when we invite new artists to become part of the Discovery Project family! We’re excited to announce BENTZ and Truth x Lies have come out on top of our Beyond Wonderland 2017 competition. Both of these buzzing acts are a great addition to our artist collective, and we believe their unique styles are true representations of the immense diversity and undeniable energy currently coming out of dance music.

If it’s house music you’re after, you’ve likely heard the name Truth x Lies before. Their work has a bouncy funk to it, with a bright and uplifting spirit. They’ve released tunes at a blinding rate, while gaining support from Oliver Heldens, Don Diablo and Martin Garrix.

BENTZ has never let genres define him. Lately, his love for complexity in production has led him down the future bass path. The upstate New York resident has made his mark by deftly weaving ‘bow-throwing beats and ethereal soundscapes into his beautifully energetic music. He’s received heavy support from DJ Craze, Party Favor and UZ, not to mention he has already released on Firepower Records and Ultra.

In one week, both BENTZ and Truth x Lies will showcase their diverse production styles and flawless DJ skills at Beyond SoCal. Before heading out to the festival, let’s give a warm welcome and dig a little bit into their background.

Currently living: Manhattan, NY (both)
Origin of name: We wanted to choose a name that had some duality to it, as we have different backgrounds and different approaches to creating music.
Weapon of choice: Ableton Live, Grubhub

BENTZ

Hometown: Owego, NY
Currently living: Owego, NY
Origin of name: I ran out of ideas, so a friend of mine actually suggested it to me. I wish it had more meaning, but I guess my creativity is limited to music itself.
Weapon of choice: If we’re talking actual weapons, my 12-gauge has my heart. If we’re talking instruments, my MTD Kingston KZ6 bass is my baby.
Source of power: Carmack, of course.
