Nick Curly Locks the Dancefloor Into His Dense Hypnotic Groove “Zero Love”
German producer Nick Curly has been producing and dropping dancefloor bombs for a solid 15 years now, affiliated during that period with landmark house and techno stables like Cocoon, Defected, and Truesoul. During that time, he’s also run his own 8bit Records imprint, which has been home to more than 150 releases since 2006. This Friday, he returns to 8bit with his Zero Love EP, and we’re featuring its lead offering as our Track of the Day.
“Zero Love” sets its scene with a fast-paced tempo and crisp, elegant percussion, which he quickly embellishes with a rubbery bassline that really locks down its groove framework. Slowly, he weaves the soundscape into something more dense and hypnotic, with restrained dashes of melody and ambiance, haunting breakdowns, and some sharp percussive swirls. It’s a swirling, deep affair that’s the perfect offering for really fixing the dancefloor into a hypnotic groove.
Available March 23 via 8bit.
