Shadow Child Works Some Thunderous House Percussion Into “Strange Girl” Remix
Inimitable UK house veteran Dave Spoon has sought fresh inspiration in recent years under his Shadow Child alias, heading up the Food Music label, while offering his polished remix skills to his colleagues in the underground house scene. One such example is the new single from Austria’s Joyce Muniz, which sees her collaborating with UK vocalist Little Boots on a deep, acid-tinged collaboration that tells of the tale of falling for an outsider. Taking the story a step further are two remixers, one coming from Black Loops and the other being a choppy take from Shadow Child, which we are offering up as our Track of the Day.
From the opening ethereal ‘80s synths that shimmer in this remix, his expertise and experience as a producer are well on display. That’s even before he rolls out an incredible array of electro frills and a powerful punch of percussion that will deliver impact aplenty on the dancefloor. It’s the perfect arrangement of house elements to allow the sultry vocals from Little Boots to truly shine.
