Sinden Pays Tribute to Ajax With Driving Remix of “I’m Hot”
Sweat It Out! is a label with a hefty legacy in its wake, after seeing DJ culture rise and shift over the last decade. It only made sense to commemorate those 10 years with a compilation that looked back. They even added an unreleased track from the late Ajax in memoriam and celebration. “I’m Hot” is some serious ‘00s electro energy; the only thing that could add more flair to this is handing the heater over to another legend, Sinden.
Stepping into the pumping rhythms of “I’m Hot,” Sinden locks in and beefs up the beat. He flips the electro rager into a tech house thumper, as he eschews the rolling bassline in favor of a concrete-thick kick & hat combo. The one-two punch leading the way, the vocal hook drops down with some muted horns to keep the dancefloor attitude. Once the bass begins to breathe in the space between, you have a driving body-mover that never drops a beat.
Sinden keeps the captivating dynamics of the original but is skilled enough to completely reimagine its execution. Letting the sounds build, drop, and play in and out of the mix, he keeps this track lively and moving. But nothing ever leaves the gravitational pull of its four-on-the-floor attitude. This one hits hard and continues the legacy of both Ajax and Sweat It Out!
“I immediately wanted to do this remix when it was offered to me, and I’m honored that the Sweat guys reached out to me,” Sinden tells us. “Ajax was a good friend. Without fail, we would always meet on my Australian trips, and in return, on his European visits. I was actually talking to him a few days before his passing; the plan was for him to remix my single on Sweat. To remix him is hugely meaningful to me, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity! His legacy and spirit live on through Sweat always.”
