Skellism Will Rattle Your Bones With This Exclusive PROJECT:Z 2017 Mix
Close your eyes, and think back to the last time a song made you headbang so hard it bordered on insanity. Channeling their inner-bass strength, Sergio Garcia and Francisco Romo, better known as powerhouse bass duo Skellism, have unleashed arguably the heaviest track in bass music this year. A long-awaited, neck-snapping, foot-stomping, and just plain crazy tune, “In the Pit,” with Terror Bass and Lil Jon, is so heavy, rumors began to circulate that certain clubs and venues banned the track.
Setting the record straight, Romo reveals, “I wouldn’t say it’s getting banned, but there is definitely a vibe some places have where this type of record is super inappropriate; bottle service promoters don’t want to have mosh pits at their high-end clubs. This record was meant for the festival, and that’s the approach Lil Jon, Terror Bass, and [we] had when making [it].”
Debuting in late June, “In the Pit” is the first release on the newly relaunched Geffen Records, previously home to legendary acts like Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, Nirvana and others, since 2008. The response to this bone-rattling record has been massive: “In the Pit” garnered 1.4 million plays in three weeks, landing on the Spotify US Viral 50 charts at #8 and Global Viral charts at #17 after its first week of release.
Traversing the worlds of bass music and hard dance with ease and style, Skellism bridges the gap between the distinct genres. “We had this vision to be able to play and produce both genres, and [we] were told time and time again that it’s not possible and that the fans will never understand it,” Garcia explains. “And boom, a few years later, Insomniac has this awesome event where both worlds collide.”
Skellism now find a perfect home as they melt faces and shatter eardrums at the second annual PROJECT:Z next month, where two of our toughest and heaviest brands, Bassrush and Basscon, join forces for the ultimate bass experience. Ahead of PROJECT:Z, Skellism dropped an exclusive mix to get you amped up for one intense night of major bass power.
