Squire Dips Into Deep and Brooding Energy on “Shaker Life”
Last year, Spanish DJ/producer duo Audiofly (aka Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito) launched their Flying Circus Recordings label in Barcelona as an imprint they’ve used thus far to showcase deep, hypnotic house of the finest variety. It’s been home to a small selection of releases since the launch, with “quality over quantity” definitely being the mantra here. They’re finishing up the year with The Seven Principles EP from Squire, and we’re previewing “Shaker Life” from the four-tracker.
“There’s an interesting story behind ‘Shaker Life,’” Barcelona’s Squire says of his new release.
“Back while I was living in London, I used to go often to vocalist Ala.Ni’s show. We ended up becoming good friends, and I noticed that at every show, she was singing her version of Richie Havens’ ‘Shaker Life.’ After a while, I asked if she would be happy to make a dancefloor version together, so that’s when we got together in the studio to work on the track.”
“We recorded loads of new percussion, a distorted guitar, with Ala.Ni appearing this time under the Larde Darde alias,” he adds. “I’m very happy with this underground tune, and I hope you all enjoy as much as I did producing this record!”
Available December 29 via Flying Circus.
