André Gazolla Creates a Mean Lean on “My Way”
The Audiophile team has a gift for flagging down understated artists before the rest of the industry would even move a muscle at the prospect of turning a demo into a record deal. But the most impressive part about it all is the amount of ground they’re able to cover through the various sub-labels that have risen under their supervision. Audiophile Deep has the underground under control, specializing in the realms of house and techno. André Gazolla, a bright producer from Brazil, is the latest gem to get unearthed by the prophetic AD crew.
He knocks back two tracks for his My Way EP, which drills into the urban-rooted house that has seen a huge upsurge in the southern hemisphere. The titular cut has a particularly mean lean, with most of its tilt deriving from the tighten-your-grip beat Gazolla assembles here. A self-assertive rhythm steers straight into splashes of static and a tight groove that will help loosen up those limbs like crazy.
Gazolla speaks on the EP:
I tried to move my essence in these two songs, each with its own characteristics. “My Way” is a mixture of house and techno elements with a more drawn footprint to Brazil, while “Soul Inside” conveys feelings coming from the bottom of the soul. I cannot define a style for my productions, just what I was feeling there at the time. The reaction on the dancefloor is very positive, so that’s the good news!
