Ash Turner and Jade Marie Cause a Scene With Unruly Joint “Act Stupid”

Although they swear by separate social accounts, the constant back-and-forth between Ash Turner and Jade Marie has made it hard not to see them as an official item. The two UK producers have frequently opted to tackle the bass house circuit in tandem, leaning on one another to whip up originals, guest mixes, and a bootleg or two. A proper EP is next on the agenda, as their shared work finally culminates with a package on Four 40 Records.

“Act Stupid” has been chipped off the release before it hits the public. It has a “bass-fueled rhythm with a gritty underground vibe,” according to Jade. The vibe she describes arrives with the sort of low-end hijinks the pair has been fooling around with for a while now. A riled-up vocal sample winds up the tension, eventually snapping behind rattling percussion and a sleazy sequence of squawk-like synths. It’s one of those records that’ll cause a scene, no matter the time or place.
