Bass Science’s “Lower” Cruises Down Lush, Blissed-Out Vibes
Nothing repost-worthy ever seems to slip past the Seclusiasis crew. The imprint stays on top of things, always sniffing out the creative bodies willing to get their hands dirty so that street bass music never reaches its expiration date. MattB, aka Bass Science, is a prime example of such, as the latest to keep the label’s urbanely on-point catalog in check.
At the end of the month, he’s set to drop his self-titled EP, which shows the beat chemist drawing inspiration from his recent move to Los Angeles. The blissed-out way of life bleeds through all six tracks featured, especially on waist-aimed jam “Lower.”
“When I finish writing a song, I sometimes imagine where I’d like to listen to that very track,” MattB tells Insomniac. “For this very one, I took a night drive on the Pacific Coast Highway, breathing the night air and feeling the music playing out of the speakers—it was a really cool moment.”
He’s captured it completely here, as he experiments with brittle low-end patterns and woozy footwork influences. It’s the splashes of future bass stylings and cruise-controlled vocals that’ll make you want to smash on the play button until it breaks.
Available May 27 via Seclusiasis.
