Cherney Channels Dark Reggae Vibes on “Fatal Fury”
Every now and then, a tune comes across our desk that hits us right from the start and won’t let go. Cherney’s “Fatal Fury” is one of those bits, as the ragga-licious vibes that launch the intro had us nodding our heads before we even hit the neck-snapping, booty-shaking drop proper. Reggae-tinged dubstep may seem like a no-brainer, but Cherney twists the vibe by sprinkling a little metal on the proceedings, which elevates this beast to an entirely new level.
“This was one of those tracks that just came together overnight,” Cherney tells us. “After producing 10 years, I really nailed my workflow down. This track came to mind, and I just emptied it out into Logic Pro. I was inspired by Zomboy’s metallic flow and infused my metal guitar history into the track to make it a dark, reggae sort of vibe that would drive people mad!”
After one listen, you know it’s mission accomplished, as Cherney crushes on this standout track from the forthcoming Flatline compilation, due out on Firepower this week. The sixth installment in the compilation series promises to be the filthiest yet, and with Cherney leading the way on this dubbed-out killer, you best be ready to hit the deck! Check it below.
