Christian Martin & Mark Starr’s Deep-Space Cut “Wat”
In 2003, local San Francisco DJs Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, his brother Christian, and Worthy founded the Dirtybird soundsystem. Those Sunday afternoon BBQs became an infamous clubbing institution in Golden Gate Park. And, for the Dirtybird crew, the rest is history.
Now, in 2017, Christian Martin is launching his own signature underground label, Trippy Ass Technologies. First up is a solid four-track EP, Trippy Associates Vol. 1, which ranges from West Coast acid electro (“Gonna Make It”) to funky tech house (“Sutter”).
Martin links up with Floridian producer Mark Starr on “Wat”—the deepest cut from the EP—with spacey echoes, minimal ‘80s freestyle beats, and reverberating dub for those late-night after-hours sessions.
Stream “Wat” below—and be sure to catch Christian Martin at the Dirtybird Campout on October 6 in Bradley, California, featuring fellow camp counselors Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, J.Phlip, and the rest of the Dirtybird crew.
Available now via Trippy Ass Technologies.
