Cid Inc Reworks Valentino’s “Flying” Into a Sublime, Sun-Gazing Gem
Nearly 15 years on, and you can still pick up on the innovation Valentino Kanzyani employed in order to pique ears with his classic record “Flying.” At the time, the Slovenian techno warrior thought to shed a new light on his already mesmerizing blend of music by weaving in a warm Balearic influence. Bringing his beach-bumming guitar lead into play, Kanzyani gave the future adopters of the genre a definitive standard to work from.
The blissed-out vibes from his timeless Yoshitoshi record is now being revisited, with three apt producers pulling the piece in their own far-off directions. Finnish phenom Cid Inc is delicate with his take, homing in on the palatial lead with extraordinary diligence and finesse. “It was a great pleasure to do a reinterpretation of this classic track,” he says. “I aimed to keep the original feel but give it my own touch. Really happy that the Yoshitoshi crew gave me this opportunity.” Coupling fragments of the original with cavernous pads and a trotting bassline, this sublime offering is going to go off sunup or sundown.
Available March 28 via Yoshitoshi Recordings.
