There’s this undeniably cool edge that the Lower East imprint has managed to maintain since their launch. It’s been five or so years already, and the London-based label still comes off like that super knowledgeable companion of yours who always digs up the most insane tracks before anyone else. Their latest prize comes at the hands of their leader, Cozzy D, and contains three originals.

The title cut, “Anxiety,” is a straightforward floor shooter that comes out with its tech-house guns blazing alongside a buff Volkoder remix. The Brazilian beast leaves a good chunk of Cozzy’s ideas intact while pushing out his own frenetic agenda. With its eyes on the finish line, the tune features a frenzy of drum fills and driving percs to keep you locked in on its big basslines, which flow through peremptory synth stabs. It’s basically everything I need right now.

Try out the first full stream below, and then help yourself to some words on the original from Cozzy D.

Available May 11 via Lower East.

Who is the ideal person to remix this track?
Volkoder is someone I have admired for a while and was my first choice. I love the route he has gone down with his remix. He uses a lot of the original parts, but in his own way, and has provided the perfect contrast for the package.

Have you played this one out in any of your sets? If so, what was the response?
I have been playing “Anxiety” in my sets for a while now, and the response has always been very positive, I’m very happy to say. People seem to especially like the gnarly bass stabs.

Were you impulsive on this track, or did you have a sketch in mind before you started?
I came across the vocal sample a little while ago and thought it was quite powerful and really wanted to use it in a track. It was always my intention to make something geared toward those peak-time sets. The rest was quite impulsive, to be honest.

How do you measure the success of a track?
Being a DJ first, the tracks I like to produce are always intended for the dancefloor. Nothing quite beats that feeling of getting a great reaction from dropping a new track for the first time. It’s also great when artists you aspire to [be like] are playing and supporting your music.

If this song were a color, what color would it be?
Wine red—dark, but with fun elements.
